Despite a robust job market, over 60% of previously incarcerated individuals have challenges finding employment a year after release. Employers often reject them after background checks due to their criminal records, leaving returning citizens with minimal support to navigate re-entry challenges.
Highlights previously incarcerated individuals who, despite all the hardships they face in their lives, were still able to move forward and be successful. It allows them to list their services and talk about their stories. For example, it will make it easier for contractors to build a network, attract customers and build their businesses.
Provides contracting services to residential and commercial customers
in the Philadelphia region. We offer electrical, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, general labor, and demolition services. The enterprise, based in West Philadelphia, contracts for services nearly exclusively performed by returning citizens. We are in the process of developing partnerships with non-profit organizations and general contractors who renovate and repair residential properties. We also are marketing our services directly to residential customers.
Will provide entrepreneurship training to currently incarcerated individuals who want to learn business skills to operate their own business when they return. The enterprise will rely on the hundreds of formerly incarcerated individuals and others who are currently operating their own enterprises, who can teach these skills via Zoom.
Seeking contracts from local agencies to support and train returning citizens. The focus will be on the construction industry, manufacturing, and other companies that want to be supportive of returning citizens.
